History: Bauhaus posters were first designed in 1923. Joost Schmidt designed the iconic first Bauhaus poster for the inaugural 1923 Bauhaus Exhibition in Weimar, Germany. Other influential Bauhaus designers include Herbert Bayer, László Moholy-Nagy and Rudolf Baschant.
My Bauhaus 'Extended’ designs are inspired by Bauhaus artwork and principles regarding shapes, structure and colour. I started working on this series way back in the early 1990's when Apple MacIntosh was the go-to for serious graphic designers. These impactful Bauhaus 'Extended’ artworks do not attempt to convey any religious, cultural or political ideas or ideologies. They are simply graphic design compositions using the colours and shapes suggested through Bauhaus thinking and contemporary design. The inclusion of typography and typographic characters are placed to add some nuance and recall for the viewer.
No animals were harmed in the production of these Bauhaus 'Extended’ works. As these works were produced digitally, no traditional artist materials were used in the production of these works in order to help save the planet, except for carbon pencil and paper used in the initial concepts and sketches which has very little impact on the planet.
